Weight loss is a big subject on a lot of people's minds these days, and for good reason. America and other developed nations are experiencing problems with obesity and overweight like never before.

If you eat out a lot, it may have crossed your mind that it is not easy to find out what the nutritional facts and calorie information on the food you are eating it. Indeed, even a lot of chain restaurants, which have web sites, will not reveal the nutritional data on the food they serve to the public.

Why is this? Restaurants successfully convinced congress a few years ago that they do not need to share its nutritional facts. This measure effectively exempts most restaurants from the 1990 Nutrition Labeling and Education Act. Most national chains such as Outback Steakhouse are not required to share the nutritional info on any of their foods, either in their restaurants, or on the Internet.

What may even be more alarming is the fact buy bulk l-phenylalanine nutritional powder were you to ask the restaurant for nutritional facts, they likely would not be able to tell you. This is because most restaurants, owing to their legal "pardoning" by congress, do not even bother to perform a nutritional analysis on their foods. Not only do you not know what you are eating - they do not know, either!

In order to get a better idea as to the nutritional content, what you will have to do is note the ingredients that go in to the food you like to order at your favorite restaurant, and start crunching numbers on your own. To use Outback Steakhouse as an example once again, it has been shown that, despite the fact that they are apparently unaware of the nutritional value of their foods, an order of the popular appetizer, the Bloomin Onion, comes with 2,310 calories! While normally one person will not eat an entire order for themselves, that is still quite a lot of calories. Even worse, the Cheese Fries at Outback Steakhouse come with nearly 3,000 calories! That exceeds the recommended calorie intake for an individual per day! And that is only the fries, which are normally meant to be served as a side dish - add the rest of the meal on to that, and, well, you begin to get the picture.

One thing is clear - restaurants are not required to give you nutritional info for a reason. You probably would never want to eat at most of them again if you knew the truth!
